J. Lo afraid for her twins

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Motherhood is something Jennifer Lopez is taking seriously — to the point people around her wonder if the superstar isn’t overreacting a bit. According to a member of J. Lo’s team, the actress and singer — supported completely by husband Marc Anthony — has really beefed up her security detail since the birth of her twins last week. Reportedly, the couple has hired six new bodyguards — two for each eight-hour shift around the clock. The annual tab for that comes to a cool $600,000, not including the cost of benefits for the new security team. In addition, closed-circuit cameras have been installed in virtually every room in Lopez and Anthony’s various homes. ”She’s paranoid about a possible kidnapping,” said my source. Lopez also increasingly has become quite the ”germaphobe.” Dispensers containing a hygienic cleanser have been placed at the entrance to the babies’ nursery and elsewhere around the house. People coming close to the children have been instructed to use those lotions every time they enter the kids’ rooms. There’s also been a purchase of what’s being called ”a lifetime supply” of surgical masks — to be worn by those coming in contact with the newborns.

Alas, none of this is true, according to Lopez’s rep. She tells us, “This story is ridiculous and without merit,” adding that the two already have a security team in place and have for some time.

Dayanara Torres To Write Book About Divorce From Marc

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Dayanara Torres plans to spill the beans on her short and tumultuous marriage to Marc Anthony, reports The Post’s Sandra Guzman. The former Miss Universe is writing “Married to Me: How Committing to Myself Led to Triumph After Divorce,” which will chronicle how she got over her painful union with Marc Anthony - who left her for Jennifer Lopez - to find true happiness. But let’s hope Torres has good lawyers. When Ojani Noa, J.Lo’s first hubby, tried doing the same, he was shut down in court by Lopez’s lawyers. Torres’ tome will be published by Penguin Book’s new Latin author line, Celebra.

Snoop Dogg Offers J.Lo Parenting Advice

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Snoop Dogg certainly has a way with children. On Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, the 36-year-old rapper-turned-reality star can be seen rearing and playing with sons Corde, 13, Cordell, 10, and daughter Cori, 8, and wife Shante.

So as a father of three, what advice would he give Jennifer Lopez, who welcomed fraternal twins on February 22? “One baby at a time,” he tells OK! at the Hip-Hop Summit Action Awards. “She’s going to have a good time with it. Babies are beautiful, especially having two at one time. I wish her luck, and how her babies remain to be safe and healthy and she enjoys her time with them.”

J. Lo’s Doctor Speaks: “She’s Simply Overjoyed!”

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

While the world waits to see Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s new twin babies, Life & Style Weekly spoke with one of the only non-relatives who has gotten a gander at the little ones. “Jennifer was amazing,” Dr. Anita Sadaty, J. Lo’s ob-gyn, tells Life & Style. “She has this motherhood glow about her, very serene. Her boy and girl are healthy — and for that she feels so thankful and blessed.” The good doctor confirms that the babies were delivered via C-section on February 22 at 12:12 and 12:23 a.m. (her daughter, showing early diva leanings, came out first). “The delivery went without a hitch. There were no complications whatsoever.” And Marc played the doting dad perfectly, coaching his wife throughout the entire procedure. “Oh yes, Marc was by her side,” says Sadaty. “He and Jennifer are simply overjoyed!”

Jennifer Lopez Is ‘Very Happy and Blissful’

Monday, February 25th, 2008

preg13.jpg

Just days after giving birth to twins, Jennifer Lopez “sounds very peaceful and happy and blissful,” says her longtime friend, producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas. “She said, ‘I can’t take my eyes off of them.’ ” Lopez and husband Marc Anthony welcomed their twins – a girl, followed by a boy – shortly after midnight Friday morning. “She and Marc are so ready for a family,” says Goldsmith-Thomas, who produced Maid in Manhattan. “They love each other so much and built this beautiful life together. It feels like the only thing missing were these children and now they have them.”At the shower she threw Lopez last month, she recalls, “Someone gave her a charm with ‘Momma’ on it and she started to cry.” Lopez has finally slowed down too. “She really enjoyed her pregnancy,” notes Goldsmith-Thomas. “She has been nesting. And she has been resting which is different for her. She has really found a balance – before it was a massive amount of work. [Now] she is so excited about these babies.”

When at their Long Island home for dinner a few months ago, Lopez asked her friend if she wanted to see the nursery. “We saw all the baby clothes and we just squealed,” notes Goldsmith-Thomas. “We just stood there and stopped – the reality of it sort of takes your breath away. Marc and Jennifer are twice blessed and they couldn’t be happier.”

Marc Anthony’s Sister ‘Ecstatic’ Over Jennifer Lopez Baby News
Good news travels fast, and when Marc Anthony’s sister found out about the double blessing he and wife Jennifer Lopez had early Friday morning, she was overjoyed. “I learned this morning. I’m ecstatic, I really am. I’m happy for her,” Yolanda Santa Maria, Anthony’s older sister, told PEOPLE Friday after hearing the birth news on Good Morning America. “She’s a mom for the first time. I can just imagine the euphoria she’s going through.” And as for her brother? “It’s another two blessings for him. He beat me – I have four [kids] and now he has five. I’m so happy for him. I don’t even know what to say. It’s like if I had the babies.” Santa Maria, who expects to meet her new niece and nephew soon, added, “I can’t wait to see them, I can’t wait to meet them. Words don’t even begin to express how happy I am for them.”

Leah Remini, J.Lo’s Sister Visit the Hospital
New parents Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have received well-wishes from friends and family – including a personal visit from actress Leah Remini, who arrived Friday afternoon at the maternity ward where Lopez gave birth to twins. Remini, a longtime friend of Lopez who has called the singer “a born mom,” was spotted on Friday afternoon at the hospital in Long Island, N.Y. Earlier in the day Lopez’s sister, Lynda, was also seen heading into the maternity ward, where Lopez and husband Marc Anthony welcomed a boy and a girl early Friday morning.

Other Celebs Send Their Love
Famous foodie Rachael Ray suggested to PEOPLE that the new mom “definitely indulge in the food she craves.” Even better? “Have Marc prepare it for her,” says Ray. “That would make it super special. I know how that makes a woman feel.”

And at the L.A. Confidential lunch for Kate Beckinsale on Friday, fellow new mom Ali Landry passed on these words of wisdom: “Get ready for the most amazing ride of your life. You don’t even understand it until they’re in your arms. It’s amazing.”

Guest of honor Beckinsale was more practical. “Get some sleep now,” she advised. “You’ll never sleep again!”

And true to her American Idol persona, Paula Abdul just had warm wishes for the new mom. “I am so happy for her,” said Abdul. “She is so maternal by nature. To see that happen for someone who deserves that … congratulations to her. I’m really happy.”

EXCLUSIVE: Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony Welcome Twins!

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

birth.jpg

It’s double the baby joy for Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony: They’re the proud new parents of twins, a boy and a girl, Lopez’s manager tells PEOPLE exclusively. The babies were born early Friday in Long Island, N.Y. The girl was born at 12:12 a.m. and weighed 5 lbs. 7 oz., and the boy followed at 12:23 a.m., weighing 6 lbs. “Jennifer and Marc are delighted, thrilled and over the moon,” Lopez’s manager Simon Fields tells PEOPLE. They’re the first children for Lopez, 38, and the fourth for Anthony, 39. The couple celebrated the impending births with a baby shower in New York on Jan. 19. “They were just beaming the entire time,” said one partygoer.

Longtime friend Leah Remini calls Lopez, 38, “a born mom” and very nurturing. “With our daughter, she’s so great. I mean, lets her go in her closet and play with her coats or her jewelry. She’s just so giving and loving,” Remini said. Lopez announced her pregnancy Nov. 8, telling the crowd during her final Miami concert: “Marc and I are expecting a baby!” The news of twins was finally confirmed by Lopez’s dad earlier this month, in an interview on Spanish-language television.

Lopez Long Kept Pregnancy Secret
During the early weeks of her pregnancy, Lopez skillfully ducked the question, even when appearing on TV in October with Diane Sawyer and with David Letterman. Lopez shrugged off the secrecy, telling Harper’s Bazaar, “I kind of feel like everybody knew anyway. I was on tour with a bubble gut!”

And being tight lipped has long been Lopez’s style. When she married Anthony in June 2004, her rep would neither confirm nor deny the nuptials had taken place. What are not being kept secret are Lopez’s plans now that she’s a mother. As she told Harper’s, the hard-working performer intends to take off time.

“Once I did the tour,” she said, “I really just wanted to shut it down, and since then I’ve had to do three things, including a video. It may not sound like a lot, but you know, as this point, any woman can sympathize. It is a lot. I was ready just to sit.”

Jennifer Lopez is about to pop out twins, and that has North Shore University Hospital on Long Island in a tizzy. A staffer there says a private room - furnished especially for the mom-to-be with a luscious brown leather couch - has been sitting empty for two weeks now. The room is reserved for the diva. “No one’s even allowed in there until she gets here. It’s just sitting there for her,” said the employee. The hospital, which reportedly beefed up security recently, had no comment.
